The Faculty of Political Science of Saint Petersburg University currently offers Master’s degree programs in three areas of study:

1. Political Governance (headed by prof. Leonid V. Smorgunov)

2. Applied political science (headed by prof. Olga V. Popova)

3. The theory of global political process and international relations (headed by prof. Sergey A. Lantsov)

4. Political Governance and Public Policy

Graduates have a profound knowledge in the main political theories and concepts, history and theory of political institutes and their development, the main theoretic and methodological approach in comparative politics, regularities and trends in Russian political processes, current position of political institutes in Russian society.

During the study our students get an experience in comparative analysis of political systems, analysis of the relations between governmental branches. They may use their theoretical knowledge in the explanation of the major trends in international relations development.

Our graduate students have practical training in:

The Legislative Assembly of Saint Petersburg and Saint-Petersburg Government, the State Duma and The Council of Federation;

government centers and political parties;

informational and PR departments in different leading business organizations;

political and consulting agencies;

mass media;

international organizations.
